Corkscrew Swamp was a veritable gold mine for me - there were lots of flycatchers and warblers, but it was really crowded, so after I got my shots of the painted buntings, I tried not to be obnoxious and take the best viewing spots with all my gear all the time. It was easier to take photos of the shore birds without being a rail-hog. The black-crowned night heron was the object here, but the white ibis and the anhinga crowded in.

Helen: I'm so so so jealous. You got some really great captures. I love my Great Blue Heron I see but that is the only big bird around.

Beautiful birds and snake too.
Yes, I like that hair style!
Gorgeous! I am really enjoying Corkscrew, snake and all.
How cool to get all three birds in one shot and look at the hair on that little blue heron.
Great photos! And you made Fishing Guy jealous!
So very beautiful Helen. :c)
I'm still not believing you saw all this wildlife! As you know, my visit was a big void. Amazing.
Your photography is fantastic. I just ran across your Blog on another site I was commenting on and decided to visit yours. I've been sharing some of my bird photography too. Stop by my blog sometime.
Fantastic shots Helen, you have captured some incredible nature shots.
Odd name but beautful birds. Thanks
Lovely egret! I like the heron picture too.
Really great photos. And you hit it perfectly, waters were down low enough that all the wildlife was congregating at the pools. Now it's to the point where even those pools are vanishing. It's been a dry dry season.
You really found a great place! So many different types of herons and other waders. Lovely photos!
Wow! What wonderful shots! Can't wait to see the rest of them so I'm just going to browse without commenting so I'm going to say it now, Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!
:-D
