Corkscrew continued...

Corkscrew Swamp was a veritable gold mine for me - there were lots of flycatchers and warblers, but it was really crowded, so after I got my shots of the painted buntings, I tried not to be obnoxious and take the best viewing spots with all my gear all the time. It was easier to take photos of the shore birds without being a rail-hog. The black-crowned night heron was the object here, but the white ibis and the anhinga crowded in.

Yellow rat snake - Ugh!

I like the hair-do on the little blue heron.

The egrets were plentiful and beautiful.

Helen: I'm so so so jealous. You got some really great captures. I love my Great Blue Heron I see but that is the only big bird around.

How cool to get all three birds in one shot and look at the hair on that little blue heron.

I'm still not believing you saw all this wildlife! As you know, my visit was a big void. Amazing.

Really great photos. And you hit it perfectly, waters were down low enough that all the wildlife was congregating at the pools. Now it's to the point where even those pools are vanishing. It's been a dry dry season.
