Rainy Monday

Another rainy day, and I had to work to boot, so all I have to post is more of the same - watching the dogwood blossoms change and my "resident birds."

The blossoms get paler as they open - By the time the flowers are mature, they will be huge, flat and very pale. It's a wonder!

I love this little guy. I keep thinking I'll wake up and he'll be gone. I have never had them nest here, but there is still one female around, and this one sings all the time. He has a defect on his bill on the right side. I can't tell if it has been broken, or if it's just that way; but I wonder if that's maybe why he's hanging around. He seems to do all right with it.

So bright-eyed and happy.

I did venture out during a break in the rain to try to get this shot of the raindrops on the lilac.

I set up a feeding station in the middle of the pond area, and he's trying to see if he can jump across from the tree!

About to enjoy a treat from "Mr Bird."

That dogwood is spectacular!

We've now lost all but 1 of our yard dogwoods. There's been a terrible disease here in the Northeast that's wiped out much of the dogwoods.

Oh, I hope we don't get it here! Virginia is unbelievable in the spring, and dogwoods are one reason.

Thanks Barb - That tree is such a gift. It is beautiful year-round. Re: white throat - thanks.
BTW, bluebirds are still OK - I usually know exactly when to expect fledging, but not this time.
