I look forward to the rose-breasted grosbeaks' visits in the spring. I saw one briefly Monday. He was eyeing the feeding station, so I figured he'd be back, and hoped I'd see him. Sure enough, he was back yesterday at dinnertime.

Wonder photos of a handsome bird. I have a couple visiting here, two males and one female.
I've been looking at your seed/nut block. Can I ask about that? What happens when it gets wet, is there a chance of mold?
Marnie
Thanks -
That is a wonderful product! Wet doesn't bother it - it's held together with some sort of gelatine. It doesn't stay around long enough to even think if spoiling! I have a nice feeder from my hardware supplier that has screen around it to keep the blackbirds from gobbling it, but I felt bad for the red belly and brown thrashers, so I decided to just let the grackles have some. It comes in safflower as well. Here's their site - it's not on my online store, because they don't drop ship....If nobody in your area has it and you want some, let me know if you would be willing to spring for a case at the time, I would send it to you.

Beautiful shots of this wonderful bird!!
A wonderful visitor Helen! I wish the birds would find my nut cake!! I think there must be something wrong...too much rain?
Thanks for sharing this!
I've yet to see one here Helen. Wonderful photos!
Great pictures of this beautiful bird.
Blessings,Ruth
Great photographs of this handsome guy. I think ours may have gone...haven't seen one since Saturday. Enjoy them.
Helen, thank you, I may have found a dealer here. I have a 'cage' meant to go round a tube feeder that might work if the blackbirds get too annoying. After work I'm on my way to look at them.

he is making sure to show you all his good sides! Wonderful photos!
Those Grosbeaks are lovely birds Helen, such a contrast in colouring.
He's wonderful. I've never seen one around here.
That's a beautiful bird. It's the purest sign that spring is here. Of course it's summer in Florida.
Lovely stuff Helen. I love those guys.
Nice images of this beautiful bird, the first and last images are my pick from this series.
such a cute bird... soo colorful and fun to watch I bet... nothing like spring!!
Another new bird to my list I won't get here. Wonderful.
All your bird photos are wonderful. A couple of them bout made my heart skip a beat or two! Besides children, I think birds are my favorite subject to photograph. Thanks for sharing.
I've just looked through some of your pictures, and they are stunning. Such a rich variety of birds you have there. Beautiful.
I'm glad you got photos of the grosbeak. I got my first decent ones last evening, but it was so far away that I had to use the 500mm with 1.4X and then crop the photo severely. They are beautiful birds.
What a handsome guess!
Beautiful bird photos.
Excellent shot. How cool to see something other than sparrows in your yard. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for my yard. :-)
I'm finally finding time to visit blogs after the big WV trip and all the editing and posting that went with that! I have this handsome fella in my yard too.. So far 4 pairs. They do nest here but I haven't found where yet! Isn't Spring so exciting? Everyday something new seems to show it's face for a second.
