Pastels -
I can't figure out what's wrong with my image upload ... the backgrounds on these were all pink and green pastels, and they just don't show up that way here. Well, the little siskin and nuthatch are sweet anyway. I just took time to look at all your posts - I am amazed that so many of you can brave the cold to get beautiful pictures - I'll never have a lot of good ice and snow photos! It's too cold for me when it's hot!
Things are coming along at the store - we got everything moved into place last week, so it's time to start recruiting artists....At first it was just an idea I had to help pay the enormous rent on my space, but now I'm excited! In my new blog, "What's Going On" I will try to follow progress of the new project "The Gallery at Backyard Boutique" and post announcements and birding info for the bird shop.
Thanks to my readers who have ordered from the online store - enjoy.

These are lovely pictures.Blessings,Ruth
I love your light backgrounds with your nuthatch and siskin...You sound very busy and keeping up with this blog must be difficult!! Take a break and have a hot cup of tea!!
Helen: Those are both lovely little birds, they are beautiful as shown.
This has happened to me more than once...in your case here, I wouldn't have given it a thought if you hadn't mentioned it...they look really good as is and look as if they were supposed to look this way.
Hi Helen, Glad that your store/project is going well so far. In this economy, most people are suffering. Wonder when things will start improving??
Cute little birdies...
Hope you have a good week Don't work too hard!
Hugs,
Betsy
What a cutie! As usual, the shots are great. I'm glad things are coming along at the store.
:-)
This is typical posing by nuthatch.
Very nice!.
Helen, the background is just great as it is. Superb images. The Nuthatch just takes it.
Glad everything is coming along nicely Helen. This may be a very wonderful blessing in disguise. Have a beautiful day!
Looks like the siskin is imitating the nuthatch's pose! Love them both!
The photos look great. I'll stop by the other blog and have a look.

Nice poses by your birds! I saw a few siskins over the weekend :)
I loved the nuthatch! Such a great pose. I'm trying to love siskins, and if I did, this would be a lovely photograph as well.
A perfect pair of "upside downers". Sounds like the store happenings and gallery are getting exciting. Good luck!
Hi Helen,
Even without the pink and green background, these pictures are still sweet due to their posture and attitude. Looks like the siskin is copying the nuthatch!!!
Both are beautiful images, but the bokeh is better in the 2nd image and pose is amazing.
I haven't taken any bird photos lately Helen. Will have to get out there one of these days. Exciting about your store. Love these bird photos.
Nice images. I enjoy photographing nuthatches as well. We had Red-breasted this year as well. Blue Skies.
I think I like the pastel background. Very soothing!
The photos are lovely..I like the background..most macros look this way.
I snooped around the store...wonderful products..I surely will order at some point..You do ship to Canada. tweets..NG
beautiful, even without the pastel colors.. do you have the new blog up..? didn't see a link.. stay warm. spring is coming..
I love upside down birds, and yours are wonderful.
So glad your shop is coming along so nicely.
Photos are lovely whatever the back ground colour, but I am amazed that they are both perched upside down almost, very gymnastically, maybe that is the normal way for them to perch, just unusual for me, but we don't have that kind of wee birds.
Hi Helen!
Hope all is going well.
Great photos. Our Pine Siskins have returned after a few years of "no shows." They are very tame! If I had enough time, I'm sure they would eat out of my hand.
These are great pictures.
