It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.......

OK, friends, it's snapshot time.....no fancy photography, just fun and carols and visions of sugarplums.

I put Rod in the store window playing carols on his tuba!

I went to Ruthi's after work to help with the gingerbread house.

Little hands working hard.

Uh-oh.... some of those candies did NOT go on the house!

A finishing touch...

And - voila!

Then, a drive into DC to see the lights.....

We always think the tree on the Capitol lawn is more beautiful than the National Christmas Tree on the Elipse, behind the White House.

This year, I'm not going...they are expecting 4 or 5 million people to be trying to get into the city!

One more shot..

It was a misty evening; the top of the Washington Monument was up in the fog.

OK, this is the National Christmas Tree, from the car, in the dark and mist....You can see the White House just behind it.

And your greeting for today.

What a beautiful sight--DC at night. Lit up against the dark sky.

I had to chuckle at the first photo. That rooster in the corner adds a little whimsy.

That little dumpling of a granddaughter (correct?) is the cutest thing! Neat post - I do think I'd skip the inauguration this year as well.
Love that gingerbread house - haven't made one in years!

I loved your pictures of DC, but my favorite was of the young lady who helped make (and sampled) the gingerbread house. Precious!

Helen this is a wonderful holiday post. Love the gingerbread house, we always had one when the children were small with s working chimney, leaf gelatine or sugar cube windows and a candle inside with the smoke coming our of the chimney. Beautiful grandchildren !

What a great post. I thoroughly enjoyed those photos! You know, I've never made a gingerbread house... or eaten from one in fact. That looks like fun. I should talk my sister into doing that with the grandkids.
