Thunderstorms were forecast for this afternoon, but the light was so good, we decided to go out looking for photo-ops anyway. We live only a couple of miles from the Civil War Manassas and Bull Run Battlefields, and they are sometimes full of wonderful surprises. (Even better, the urban sprawl can't touch them.) By the time we got ready and drove down there, the rain had started. We got only a few shots, then we were deluged!

Great landscape shot!
Wow, what a dramatic photo Helen. Hope you all stayed dry! :c)
Helen: Since you started the rhymes yesterday:
Rain, rain go away
come again another day.
Loved your hay field photo.
We were rained out here yesterday also. I had to put my construction project on hold for the day. Rolled bales of hay are a familiar sight around here this time of year too.
Your chickadee is handsome - and I just love the photos of the hay bales. Reminds me of Monet paintings!
Terrific haybale shot! The sky looks threatening, for sure. That one picture was worth the trip!
The haybales against the threatening sky makes for a fantastic picture.
We also got a quick downfall yesterday, catching us unaware. But we'll not sing "Rain, rain go away." Not for a long while.
Chickadees are my favorite bird and you have captured him beautifully. The round hay bales look a lot like our MN countryside :-)
Most excellent landscape - wish I would have there, to get a shot like that! Loving it!
Cheers, Klaus
Lovely landscape shot. I have only been to Virginia a couple times - it's really pretty!
Sorry about that Helen, but at least you got one very nice image before that happened.
Hello there, lovely pictures and cloud formations and I liked the rhyme too. Thanks for stopping by, always good to see you on my blog.
Every time I come here I'm amazed at all your beautiful bird shots! The one in your header is gorgeous!
It looks stormy and all I could think of was the wind making those rolled bales of hay start to roll through the field. Now wouldn't that be something!! Great photo.
The sky is quite intense... really loved that shot with the haybales... it's quite delightful!
Thanks so much for dropping by my blog!
Mountain Retreat
LOL... I know how you feel. we have been getting more rain here than I have ever seen. Started out this spring and now this Fall is just soaking wet too.. that's ok. I would rather have the rain than heat... thanks for sharing Helen
He never comes up empty. Amen to that! :-) Love the shots. I had a cartoon time visual moment of someone running down the hill on one of those rolls. :-D
All of your photos are beautiful, but I especially like the hay rolls. Found your blog via Shellmo... lovely!
