What a glorious day today was! The sky was clear and blue, it wasn't too hot (even without AC), there was a little breeze, and the humidity was reasonable. The birds seemed happy too...some of these photos were taken yesterday, in the rain and wind, but today everyone was all dried out. They are such beautiful creatures in any conditions. They just make me happy.
"I don't need your feeders, thank you very much."
How bedraggled can one little bird be?
Looks a little lost.
Tah-dah! I've been trying for days to get this, but they keep the kids deep in the foliage most of the time. I had to use flash and an extender to get enough light for the photo, but they didn't seem to mind.

You must have such a luscious environment that the birds don't want to leave...most everything gone here. Just a few stragglers.
Beautiful! Tho that one little bird is certainly disheveled. Poor baby!
June, we are very fortunate - this area is so beautiful, and our little corner of it offers great habitat - we have a litttle yard, then there is a tree line (with our famous "bird tree") about 50 ft deep, then a creek, then the golf course.
When do you head for FL?
Anne - that was during the downpour, and he had not been able to resist the temptation to come to the feeders. Thanks.
Looks like you had a field day with the birds and got some awesome shots. Can't beat a day like that. And I love the butterfly card and quote. Life is truly an amazing thing. :-)
Great pictures Helen! What a crew!! I hope that sun just keeps on shining!
You definitely hit the "bird lottery" with all these photos! Like how the woodpecker is "eyeing" the peanuts especially!
Fascinating shots! Always love a molt shot or three...You provide such a good home!
Great after Hannah bird shots. Hannah paid us a visit too Saturday night into Sunday morning.
Yesterday I saw some warblers on the move in their "fall feathers." I feel like I have more "new" birds to learn!
Each one of those is a gem! They do look a bit wet and bedraggled :-) That hummer looks fat for sure. What a sweet cardinal picture. My cardinals are so camera shy. Wonderful post Helen!
Helen: What a great series of bird photos. I was lucky to get a butterfly and you manage three, so nicely done.
I love the pictures, especially when the birds look so ragged. Glad the sun is back out.
Thanks, everyone -
Great shots, as always.
Oh - you're so good with these birds.
I have a hard time seeing any (songbirds that is).
Gorgeous shots!
Cheers, Klaus
What a treat to visit and see all those wonderful bird shots.
I have more goldfinches than ever this year. Haven't seen a house finch in weeks.
Do you
Birdlady,
I came over from Lin's place and want to tell you that your bird photos are wonderful. You must live in a perfect environment to attract so many beauties!
Mary
You really take beautiful photos and thanks for sharing these with all of us. That butter fly is my favorite of them all.
