I love pine trees..all of them: Virginia, Loblolly, Scotch, White, Ponderosa - all of them! They are so beautiful year-round and smell wonderful. And the cones are lovely, especially in a cozy fireplace blaze and at Christmas.
There are some 35 varieties of pine trees that are native to North America. I certainly haven't seen them all, but I'll bet I would love every one.
This card has been really popular - who knows if people are imaging fresh pine scent, or lush green forests; or if they just like the quote.
Here's another quotation : “A handful of pine-seed will cover mountains with the green majesty of a forest..." (Fiona Macloed)

It is a beauty. For me it's the scent and the long beautiful needles, that fascinate me.
Good one!
Cheers, Klaus
I live in the middle of the New Jersey Pine Barrens. Shurb pines are all around.
I love pines too...something soothing about them to me. Hard for me to differentiate between them, but I'm starting to learn...
Nothing better than the scent in the middle of a pine forest (or a cedar forest in Missouri). Just love it!
As always, a beautiful card and sentiment.
BTW - I might need you to ship me safflower cakes - haven't located a source here. Or maybe I could come by your store and pick them up while visiting my sis and bro-i-l in Alexandria. I think I remember you're fairly close to there?
This would be a lovely photograph to look at with a pine scented candle burning, oh so relaxing.
Birdlady - I share your passion for pine trees! Great photo! When we were constructing our log cabin - I flagged every pine tree to make sure they were left standing. Every single one was precious to me.
Helen: Beautiful card and saying. The pine is a womderful tree for adding green all year round.
Thanks for your many visits and comments, I enjoy what you say.
Ahhhh!!
Me too and that trip to Maine sure did smell good! I brought home a couple pine trees to plant! (Little tiny ones, hope they grow!)
It seems like I'm the only dissenting voice here, don't get me wrong I love all conifers with their wonderful scent especially in a sun warmed forest. The only one I wish had never left it's home in California is the Monterrey Pine whose roots do not form a ball like the others but undermine my garden tor 50 - 100 yards sucking up every drop of moisture and nutriment. You wonder why your precious plants are ailing 'till you try to dig and hit upon a tangle of finger to arm thich pine roots. They smell great and look good and the cones burn bright and hot but they still are the bane of my life.
It's not just the scent. It's memories of playing in the thick pine straw underneath them.
Lovely card.
Have to agree with your choice of trees Helen, nothing smells better than pine trees after a rainstorm.
Pines are so lovely and I agree that they smell wonderful. I can see why this card is so popular. Ah!
I wonder if you couldn't "spray" alittle pine to your cards--Just a thought ;)
Fantastic photo-I can totally understand the popularity!
Beautiful card and quote! I'm a country girl and love pines, too. I like the smell, the burs, the pine straw and the whole bit!
My first visit here (notice what I said about the blue lotus lol)I love your blog! What lovely images! The pine boughs are especially nice!
It is a beautiful card. Reminds me of Christmas and the smell of the Christmas tree when you walk into the house. Aaaaahhhhh!
:-)
I love pine too. This is a beautiful shot!
