Lovely photograph. I noticed some thistle growing on my road the other day but before I had a chance to take a picture the town mower went by and mowed it down.
Worrisome indeed. Going back one post I have never seen a sandhill in a residential area or next to a tree! Here we see them in fields, grassland and marshes. Never in a wooded area. Fascinating
Indeed worrisome. While we did out part in changing the climate, we're unable to put a stop to it. But we could put a stop to this: http://www.salon.com/env/feature/2008/08/20/endangered_species_act/
John - right in keeping with the worries - "cut it down, kill it, pave it over..."
Caroline & June - Yeah...
Troutbirder - the crane was along a country road - my stepson says they hang out there all the time...another of my stepsons lives on a lake further south - they have a pair and one young one - he says they come right up in the yards...???
I know you used this quote before me...I can only imagine that brilliant minds (and I use that term loosely when describing myself) think alike! A wonderful quote, and a beautiful photograph, Helen.
Wonderful greeting Helen! I wouldn't worry too much Helen, the earth is an amazing entity. It has a way of taking care of itself! We can do our part but it'll always have the last word!

Helen: A beautiful capture of the swallowtail on the thistle. A really cool saying.

Very interesting (and scary) article. Thanks for linking to it.
Troubling indeed! This is downright depressing!

I just saw my 1st swallowtail - yours is beautiful. Sad to read that article - worried about what we're doing to our environment and the wildlife.

That *is* worrisome Helen. So much of what we do today, and what we did yesterday, is going to be revealed to be damaging like this. So sad...
Wonderful greeting Helen!
