Tuesday's moon - it was spectacular! I saw it on my way home, and had to wait to get here to get some shots - I think it was more amazing earlier.
Boy, time flies when you're having fun! Somehow I didn't expect to see these little vagabonds here yet. But this morning I was watching the goldfinches, and this warbler (chestnut sided? - they are HARD in their fall colors.) flew in to join them.

Gorgeous moon...great shot of it! As for the birdies...I don't think I'll ever "get" identification down. There's male/female/juvenile/molting looks and now you say there's a fall look?? Jeez...
I am looking forward to some migrating visitors here. The house finches are about to eat me out of house and home! ;c)
Birdlady - I am laughing - we are on the same wavelength today. I posted a cardinal too - but yours is much more beautiful! Enjoyed the rest of your photos too!
Looks like the fall migration has started already, how quickly summer goes by.
That Cuckoo is awesome I stiil haven't seen one of these, only heard them...
Lovely Chestnut-sided Fall Warbler too , oh and the Cardinal is magnificent :-)
Wonderful moon! That warbler is lovely and I really like the shot where it is peeking around the leaf.
Love the Cuckoo! Haven't seen one in ages!
Good job!
Cheers, Klaus
I just noticed that my text under the yellow-billed cuckoo didn't post...the last photo was funny; the worm ws trying to escape and the bird just threw his head back, opened his bill, and - down the hatch!
June - sure you will; just keep looking! Many of the warblers look very different after the fall molt than they do in spring and summer...
Jayne - they're coming...
Shelly - I had the advantage - this photo on the card was made in spring!
John - That's the truth, for sure.
Nick - The cuckoo was exciting - the shadows are bothersome, but that's where he was...
Mary, thanks.
Klaus - Maybe this one will stop by Disneyland...
the moon must be the same everywhere. I took the very same photos last week!! Love the warbler shot and cuckoo!! Detailed and lovely.
Great shots. The moon has indeed been lovely.
Hard to imagine that summer is ending, and the fall migration has begun. I love your sightings, because I know it won't be long until those birds visit us here a little further south.
Helen: You made some really beautiful bird captures today, very nicely done.
Caroline and FG - thanks!
Love this series of pictures. Great shot of the moon too.
Thank you Tommy....no hummers for me today.
Great photos Helen,
As everyone else I love seeing the cuckoo!!!
Wow, those are great and look at that moon! One of these days I'm going to find a bird willing to sit still long enough for me to focus on it. :-D
I loved, loved, loved your cuckoos! The 2nd most exciting time of year is here again-gets me out of bed in the morning! Sad for the temps falling though...Don't like the chilly...Fantastic photos!
