Number 3 for 08 -

Today's Greeting
Chick #1 of the 3rd brood of baby bluebirds fledged today (while I was at work - shoot!) I watched and waited as long as I could, but finally had to leave...When I got home, it was so quiet around the box, I thought it was empty , but I went down to clean it out, and 6 bright little eyes peered out at me...Oops!...So maybe I'll get to see the others fly...I'm wondering if I might possibly get a 4th nesting - It would be a first for me, but it's pretty early....Maybe......?
What fun - not just one little head peeking out, but two!

Ollie proving he does NOT depend on my mealworm offerings...

OK, OK!

Nor does Camille!

Older sibling wondering what all the fuss is about.

Mr C shining in the bright sun.

The titmice are always just the cutest little things...

He loves these seed/nut cakes.

I'm not at all sure what was going on here - Papa finch and baby flew down and sat there for probably 5 minutes or longer, just tilting their heads sideways...?

One last look at Mr. C...His molt seems to be just beginning - he'll look pretty ratty soon, but for now, he's glorious.

Oh my gosh, I can't tell you how wonderful these shots are! No words. The bluebirds...the cardinal...all of them! I'd love to know details - distance, camera settings etc as I'm very impressed.

June and Barb - thank you so much for your very nice comments - I just love sharing photos - in both directions.....June, email me and I'll tell you what I can - mostly I just spend a LOT of time waiting, and my birds are so used to me that they come close...(or we could both email bird girl - I ask her how to do most everything -and she always delivers! lol Thanks, Barb.

You are so bluebird lucky! (sigh) I am SO envious!!
However I had a red bellied woodpecker feeding her baby and I was all a-twitter as this is the first time in my birding life I've watched a parent feed a child. Bird tho they be, it was magical!

Helen, I missed mine leaving too I am afraid. I did not see them looking out at all yesterday, and later in the evening, all was quiet. I did actually have four nests last year, and like you said, it's early yet. :c)

Oh Helen, what great bird shots you got today. I really love all the nice looking birds you have in your area. Mr. rabbit looks like he is having a good munch.

Wonderful family pictures Helen! Next time you see the finches or any others still and looking up...Look UP!!! I've found they are hiding from a hawk or vulture up there and turn into statues!! I can usually find the culprit...but not always!

I just can't imagine watching that many successful baby bluebird nests! You are definitely the Queen of Bluebirds! I have had so much entertainment in watching all these adorable little babies and their hard-working parents. Super! The other birds are beautiful, too,but I just love the bluebirds!

These are such wonderful shots! I sure hope you get to see the last 3 fledge! I love them all but I so enjoy the bluebirds and titmice since I never see them except on blogs. How do you get them to pose so nicely for you?

Bluebird babies are just so cute.. and I love to visit your blog and see your photos of the whole family. The most beautiful cardinal and bluejay WILL soon be ugly with the molt. But for now your cardinal is beautiful, as is your bunny! Very nice!

Fantastic pictures! I think the finches are either sunning or anting. My birds do it here on sunny days. Sometimes they lie down entirely and other times they just do like your birds are doing.

Every shot I'm saying - that's great, oh that's great too - loved them all - especially w/ Ollie and his catch of the day!

I love all the family photos. The multitude of younglings and fledglings with busy parents is wonderful. Nice, animated photos! I like your site, just found it today, and linked it from my own nature loving site.
