Change in plans...

Today's Greeting
I had planned for today's post to be a tour of Backyard Boutique, but a couple of hummingbirds decided to put on a show.....

Young male - he's already showing off!

I love the feet in this one - usually they have the tiny feet tight up against them. If you click on this and make it larger, you can see the tongue inside the tube. These feeders are my very favorites (the hummers' too). They are handmade in copper, but sadly, the artist has had to go out of business, due to underpricing by the cheap knock-offs! Grrr.......

Ohhhhh...that last picture, from the feet to the tip of the bill in the feeder is BEYOND incredible! Just perfection, Helen.

And I'm waiting for the tour! Do you sell safflower cakes? Unfortunately our Wild Bird Store is going out of business....upsetting.... and there's no one else to take up the slake.

Retail is really rough right now - that's why I'm going online...I enjoy the customer interaction sp much, but gotta pay the rent! I do sell safflower cakes, but I don't think they will be on-line - the shipping on seed and hardware will be prohibitive.

Great shots! It's hard to get tired of watching them. I do like that feeder and have seen some similar ones at a store in New Harmony, that I think are handmade. My hummer seems to prefer a small tube type, also (although a less attractive one :-)

These are brilliant images Helen.

I never tire of looking at hummers! That last photo is awesome...with the tongue. Without that sort of feeder, you'd never have gotten it. Sorry it's no longer for sale, since I really like the look of it...but I'm curious...does the nectar drip out of the holes? I had a inverted bottle type feeder once...it was beautiful but it dripped so I had to stop using it.

Helen: You outdid yourself today. The bluebirds are super and the hummingbird feet are very special. This was really nicely done and I enjoyed it very much.

Awesome photos, makes me want to set up a feeder so I can attempt to get my own pictures.

Looking forward to seeing more hummers in a few weeks when they are maybe taking a break from child rearing. They've been scarce here. Wonderful photos Helen, just wonderful!

What a cocky little thing he is. I'm always surprised at the aggressive nature of these tiny little birds. Great photos. And I love the feeder.

Wow. Great shots. I just got a new bird feeder. Hopefully I'll get something other than the hummingbirds now. :-)
