Tell me you have a telephoto lens....please! Your pictures are always wonderful and so much closer than I can manage. DRAT!
I do indeed - I'm much too old to climb trees!
I switched from a NIKON D200 with Nikkor 400/f2.8 last year, because it simply was too heavy and bulky for me to get out where the birds are. Olympus has always been able to do great things in smaller packages, and I now use the super-cool new Olympus E-3, and, most of the time the Zuiko 90 - 250mm f2.8 zoom (180 - 500 SLR equivalent) with a Olympus 2 x teleconverter. My husband uses the 300 2.8 (600 SLR equivalent) with teleconverter. These rigs are so much smaller and lighter and we love it!
Wonderful and heartwarming to see the cute babies.
Ahhh - they are just the most adorable little things! And these had a really rough nestling period., but there they are - fat and sassy! Thanks!
Congratulations on your new arrivals.
Birdlady. OH so sweet.. I am amazed at how far ahead of us you guys are... My bluebirds are still deciding on a nest site.. I think they have settled the argument. as I haven't seen HER for a few days..
thanks for sharing
Mike, Barb, Stacey - thanks...the baby album will be along as I get it.
Very nice shots. Lovely babies too. What is a nest bottle?
I certainly hope I can follow in your footsteps and have as much luck with my little family, Helen.
Wonderful shots and a great story!!
Mornin' Abe - If you look at my April 15 post (To Each His Own) there is the story of my silly bluebirds making their nest in one of those Williamsburg bottle-type birdhouses that was given to me long ago as a gift....it was a nerve-wracking nesting for us, because there was no way to help protect the birds, and the house sparrows decided they wanted that bottle. All's well now though.
aunt b - keep checking that box daily, so you'll know when to expect your chicks to hatch. She'll likely lay one egg a day for 4,5 or 6 days, then incubate them for 14 days. Good luck!
How wonderful! What fun to see babies! Your pictures are fantastic, as always! The normal amount of birds aren't coming to my closest feeder this spring for some reason, so I'm going to shift things around and try some new seed to see if I can lure them back. I don't want to miss the babies!!
Lin - Thanks...Look around and see if you can find some COLE'S seed - that's the only kind I sell at Backyard Boutique - it's truly the best.
Oh how darling!!! I think Bluebird babies are among the cutest!!!! So glad they made it...congratulations.
Thanks, JJ - They beat some tough odds I think - maybe it will make them tough like their daddy.
Aw, sweet little fat thing. Really enjoy your site.
