So sad to see friends leave for a brief time but they are replaced temporarily with the new ones. Such beautiful shots, Helen!!

Your gray catbird must be a male as those I have here are mostly one shade of gray.

You are lucky to have brown thrashers all the time. I only get them passing through and they have been here and gone on.

I usually get the grosbeaks in May but they are gone in a week or so.

Your photography is spellbinding.

brenda - i just never know what i might see out there - it's a wonder! thank you.

stacey - ah, the babies are my little darlings - thank you.

abe - that one particular one was the most contrasty i've ever seen - he was quite handsome. "MEOW" I love the brown thrashers too...I am originally a Georgian,. and that's GA's state bird. I hope I have a grosbeak or 2 come through here, but if not, they nest out at Shenandoah Nat Park, and we go there often.
thank you so much.

stacey, that is a wonderful idea - i've been wondering if there was a way not to go back and forth all the time without discouraging my faithful blogger friends - that should do it. i think i'll try it too - thanks

Aww, beautiful post! A number of these birds stay here year 'round. I can never seem to get a shot of a thrasher. They seem to know that I'm trying to take their picture and hide! Your pictures are wonderful, as always!

They may have left your yard but hopefully they'll be showing up around here soon.
