Uh-oh................

It's a cold Sunday morning - I had a little time before going to work, so I thought I'd go out on the porch and see what was going on. All was very tranquil with the bluebirds, who had already stuffed themselves with mealworms...

The wren was singing its heart out...

Then there was a rustling of wings and a dove flew out, narrowly escaping being brunch...and, oh boy, this guy was on the look-out.
The young Coopers had to look for something else; he was pretty brazen, using the nestbox as a look-out....

I wish you well; but please hunt somewhere else...

WOW! Beautiful birds. Close call! I LOVE the picture of the hawk on top of the itsy bitsy bird house, but I agree - please hunt elsewhere. Your pictures are fantastic!

Oh my...what a great post!!!! Loved them all...but...the Hawk on the nesting box was to die for!!!!
Thank you for visiting my blog...not much time to post so it takes awhile to get back to people. When I find time to visit other blogs I'm astounded at the amazing talent that's out there!

lin - thank you! he was magnificent, but scary - at least he was cooperative and let me have my photo-op. There's a chickadee nest in the house he's sitting on in the photo - he needs to leave!

jj - thank you. i'll be looking in every chance i get, as i really love your blog.

Great shots all of them, but I love the hawk on the birdhouse. Is it a sharpy or a coopers, hard to tell since I don't know the size of the birdhouse.. What a classic photograph..

Hello Birdlady these photos are wonderful! I am vacationing in Arizona and am having a difficult time capturing the feathers..perhaps I must carry seeds with me or get up earlier. Before I left I captured a Cooper in my snow garden eating his lunch..I witnessed the circle of life Mother Naure provides.Nice to meet you NG!

Thanks, everyone.
Stacey - that's a humongous nestbox; pretty sure it is a coopers - i think likely a female - pretty big.
NG - thanks for visiting - good luck with the photo-ops for the restof your vacation.

Hey, if we can figure it out, you can have that one! He's magnificent, but
I don't want him in my garden!
