Springtime in Washington

Ahh...springtime in Washington - I'll have to brave the subway and go into the city soon - it's cherry tree time in Washington! Hopefully we won't get another freeze and ruin the blossoms. It's still pretty cold, especially at night, so it doesn't feel much like spring, but it's sure starting to look like it.
This tree is in my yard - it blooms again in fall, but not this fully - I love it.
And a close-up of one of the perfect blossoms...I was too lazy (and my hands were freezing!) to change lenses and use a macro, so this was done with my big glass...

The cedar waxwings seem to enjoy this redbud - I only see them in spring and fall, but some of my customers tell me they had them all winter.

The goldfinches stay here year-round - they are pretty drab in winter, but the glorious colors are coming back - on the bird and the redbud!

Beautiful Spring blooms.. thanks for sharing. I awoke to a fantastic sunrise, but snow and no blooms yet. I do have one VERY cold bluebird who arrived a few days ago..LOL

Stacey - Thanks for visiting..I went to your blog and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'll bet that bluebird is cold! Do you have mountain or western BBs?

bird girl - Surely flowers will replace the snow soon!

Oh, the Redbud, it was a favorite of my Mom's and holds a special place in my heart. Big glass or small, you make them look just beautiful, Birdlady!

Thanks for your nice comment about my blog. As a result, I'm glad I discovered yours as well. It's always nice to meet other birders. We can't have a bird feeder in the back yard anymore, so I enjoyed seeing your visitors. My husband and I have only seen cedar waxwings once and hope to see them soon. You captured him well.
