Now ths is not my one of my everyday guests. IThree years ago, I had one rose-breasted grosbeak spend about a week here in the spring; if they passed through my yard since, I have missed them. (We do see them in the summer in Shenandoah Nat Park.) I opened the door and he flew from my feeder. I was supposed to be leaving to get my hair cut and go to work, but of course I was late - I just had to get some images - he was spectaculer!
I haven't had time to even go through all of them; I need to be really selective, cause I made a LOT.

Good morning! Oh, how gorgeous! I envy you. They were frequent visitors where I used to live, but in the ten years I've lived here, I haven't seen even one. I would have filled up my hard drive taking pictures. :) Your pictures are stunning, as always!
Very nice shots of the Grosbeak!!
They are very 'spooky' when they see any activity until they become familiar. The ones here are the same way right now. They are a beautiful bird!!
Thank you so much for your help!!
Congrats on your rare guest. So happy for you. Thanks for sharing.
Great photos of the rose breasted grosbeak. I see them up north a lot. They spend their summers up there so this one must've been passing through headed up there.
How wonderful! Don't you just love when they show up? Do you think they know how special their coloring is and how people look forward to their arrival?? I had one briefly and haven't seen another since. I keep looking!
I absolutely love these birds. When I look out and see one it makes me happy. They are beautiful and you certainly have captured that! What fun birding is and I am often late for work too!
I was talking to my mom in Missouri and she was going on and on about her grosbeaks....I was jealous....I've had maybe one in all the years we've lived here...
WOW...wish he'd come to dinner at my house!!! Great shots...definitely worth being late!!!
This makes my heart feel happy to see those baby birds!
How lucky you are.
Do you know . . . is it true that it is best to face a birdhouse towards the east in order to attract birds to next inside??
He's a real handsome devil isn't he :-)
